Iceland, a small island nation in the North Atlantic, beckons travelers with its enchanting landscapes, rich culture, and other-worldly views. Here’s why Iceland deserves a top spot on your travel bucket list

1. Awe-Inspiring Landscapes

Prepare to be mesmerized by Iceland’s diverse natural wonders. Stand in awe before the thundering cascades of Gullfoss and witness the raw power of nature. Explore the surreal landscapes of the Highlands, where volcanic peaks and bubbling hot springs create an otherworldly atmosphere straight out of a fairy tale. Find out why they call it the land of ice and fire. No where else on earth you can see a volcano and then drive an hour to see a glacier. It truly is incredible.

The Blue Lagoon is also on the list of the “25 Wonders of the world” according to National Geographic. It’s a natural spa that you can soak in while outdoors and admiring the landscapes just outside the walls of the spa. Go for a soak and enjoy your complimentary face mask and drink from the swim up bar!

It truly does feel like you’re on another planet as you’re driving through the terrain and landscapes with gorgeous views such as water falls, snow-capped mountains, lakes, and hot springs. You really have to experience the environment to fully appreciate it.

2. Chasing the Northern Lights

Experience the magic of the aurora borealis painting the night sky with vibrant colors. Iceland’s proximity to the Arctic Circle makes it one of the best places on Earth to witness this celestial spectacle. Bundle up and venture into the darkness for a chance to witness nature’s own light show.

If you’re looking to see the Northern Lights, the best time to go is in the fall or winter when it gets dark very early and often. If you plan on going in the summer you will not get to see the lights due to the daylight hours being almost 24 hours a day.

Don’t worry if you’re not renting a car, book a “Northern Lights Tour” where they take you to some great viewing spots in hope that you can catch a glimpse of the Lights. Make sure you have a good camera with you as well as a lot of times the Lights are only visible through a camera or phone lens.

one of my favorite things about the Northern Lights Tours is that if it is too cloudy or bad weather they will cancel it and reschedule you for another tour. Highly recommend checking out the travel company that we used when we visited Iceland – Bus Travel Iceland
