6 Best Nassau Bahamas Excursions You Need to Book
If you’re heading to Nassau, one thing I quickly realized is that you have to plan at least one excursion to really experience the island. Whether you’re visiting on a cruise or staying longer, there’s so much more to do beyond the port. After researching (and trying a few myself), here are six of the best Nassau Bahamas excursions I think are actually worth booking.

1. Snorkeling on a Catamaran (with One-Hour Open Bar)
This is easily one of the most fun excursions you can do. You hop on a catamaran, sail out into those unreal turquoise waters, and stop at a reef to snorkel. The marine life is incredible. There are tons of fish, turtles and the reefs are beautiful.
On the way back they get the party started with a one hour open bar. They make a rum punch, have local beer and just cruise back. It’s unlimited drinks so you can have as much or as little as you want.

You’ll pass beach front mansions, super yachts, fish and even a dolphins will make an appearance from time to time.
The crew was awesome; they really made it a very enjoyable experience for us.
The total tour is about 3.5 hours. About an hour to the snorkel site, about an hour to snorkel and swim and then another hour to cruise back.
10/10 would do it again.

2. Swimming with the Pigs
You’ve probably seen this all over Instagram. It’s definitely one of the most unique things to do in the Bahamas. The pigs are at a nearby island that they take you to by boat.
It’s a bit quirky, a little chaotic, but totally memorable. If it’s your first time in the Bahamas, I think this is one of those bucket-list experiences you just have to try.

The crew is great and you get time at the beach all to yourself. It’s really just a once in a lifetime experience.
3. Rum Tasting & Nassau Food Tour
If you’re more into culture and food, this one is such a good option. You get to walk around Nassau, try authentic Bahamian dishes, and sample local rum along the way.
It’s a great way to learn more about the island beyond the beaches. You’ll leave very full and very happy. I love excursions like this because they feel more immersive and less touristy.

If you’re not a big beach person or just want to take a break from the sand and sun, explore the local culture of Nassau. The guides are very knowledgeable and all in all its a very unique experience.
4. Swim with Pigs & Snorkel with Turtles
If you can’t decide between excursions, this combo tour is a great choice. You get the best of both worlds, swimming with the pigs & snorkeling with sea turtles.
The turtle encounters are honestly such a highlight. Seeing them in their natural environment is an unforgettable experience, and it makes this tour feel a little more unique than just the pig swim alone.
Just off the island of pigs you’ll be able to snorkel in the crystal clear waters, see schools of fish and turtles and wading about.

We didn’t get to do this one, but this would be at the top of the list next time around.
5. ATV Tours
If you want something more adventurous, ATV tours around Nassau are a blast. You get to explore parts of the island you wouldn’t normally see, ride through local areas, and sometimes stop at historical landmarks.
And you get to be on an ATV in the Bahamas?! How many people can say they’ve done that? It’s a great mix of adventure and also learning about the culture.
You get to stop at the beach for a beach break and a swim in the clear waters as well. They’ll also stop for lunch and you can try some local Bahamian food.
6. Nassau Island Highlights Tour
This is perfect if it’s your first time visiting and you want a little bit of everything. These tours usually include stops at major landmarks, scenic viewpoints, and local spots around Nassau.
It’s more relaxed than the other excursions, but you’ll come away with a much better understanding of the island’s history and culture.
The guides are great and knowledgeable and truly love what they do. That’s what makes these tours so special. If you’re not one for adrenaline or water adventures, this is a great tour to do when you’re in Nassau.

Best Nassau Bahamas Excursions
We did the snorkeling excursion with the open bar on our most recent trip to the Bahamas and that was honestly one of the best excursions I’ve done. That being said these other tours are incredible too. There’s something for everyone.
If you’re more of a doer and adventure, go for the snorkeling, swimming with the pigs or ATV – if you want something more lowkey and want to immerse yourself in the culture, go for the walking tour or the food tour.
My biggest tip? Book your excursions in advance, especially if you’re visiting on a cruise. The best ones fill up fast, and you don’t want to miss out once you’re there. Make sure you check how long they are as well so you can plan when you need to be back for your cruise departure.
