7 Best Restaurants in Bar Harbor For Amazing Lobster

Bar Harbor is hands-down one of the best places to enjoy fresh Maine lobster. Whether you’re into classic lobster rolls, buttery lobster tails, or want to try the whole thing, this list of the best restaurants in Bar Harbor will have your mouth watering.

I’m not a huge lobster eater, but I had to try it when visiting Maine, however the people I was with love lobster and they gave me some of their favorite spots that we’ll get into.

1. Paddy’s Irish Pub & Restaurant

Paddy’s is right on the waterfront, and it’s the perfect mix of cozy and upscale. I wasn’t sure what to expect from an Irish pub serving lobster, but I was seriously impressed. The lobster roll was delicious with tons of warm melted butter, and my friend enjoyed the full lobster meal pictured below.

This was one my favorite restaurants in Bar harbor for sure. Plus, the view of the harbor while sipping a pint made the whole experience even better.

2. Geddy’s

This place is just fun. The minute you walk in, you’re hit with quirky signs, license plates, buoys, and all kinds of funky decorations hanging from the walls and ceiling. It has a laid-back, small-town vibe that makes you want to hang out all night. As for the lobster? Their lobster roll is classic with warm melted buttered, toasted bun, and tons of tender lobster meat.

The lobster bisque is also very good and something that is worth a try. This place is a must visit just given the fun atmosphere, the great service and the great food.

3. Thirsty Whale Tavern

If you’re looking for a local spot that feels like a true hidden gem, this is it. The Thirsty Whale is super casual, with friendly service and a menu full of comfort food. The lobster was very fresh, and of course they serve it all kinds of ways, lobster roll, lobster bisque, lobster mac & cheese, whatever you preference is! It’s the kind of place you’ll want to go back to the next day.

You can even indulge in some local beers and ciders here as well.

4. Route 66 Restaurant

This one is a nostalgic throwback with a fun diner-style theme. The inside looks like a mix between a vintage car museum and an old-school soda shop. Neon signs, gas pumps, and license plates galore. It’s definitely a place with character.

There were tons of options and different ways to enjoy lobster. My girlfriend got lobster grilled cheese, I got a lobster Bisque, my friend got the Lobster Carbonara. They had tons of ways I didn’t even know you could enjoy lobster.

Not to mention fish and chips, burgers and other comfort food.

5. Jordan’s Restaurant

Jordan’s is best known for breakfast, this is a casual spot with a family-friendly vibe.

We went here for breakfast on our last day and ended up trying their lobster omelet. They also have amazing blueberry pancakes here as well (Blueberries are primarily from Maine if you didn’t know. Something I didn’t know until I got there)

I tried a little of the lobster omelet which was great. If you want to take a break from lobster however, opt for the famous blueberry pancakes. This is a nice place to enjoy for breakfast before hitting the park all day.

6. Testa’s Bar & Grill

Testa’s has a more upscale feel without being too fancy. You can sit outside on the patio, perfect for people-watching and enjoying the coastal breeze. I ordered the lobster mac & cheese here. Homemade mac and cheese paired with lobster, can’t go wrong. Great place with a great vibe to check out for some lobster and drinks.

They have some fun, local cocktails if you’re looking to pair your lobster with something refreshing and try something new.

7. Rosalie’s Pizza

If you are wanting a break from lobster and want some comfort food and a food you know well, Rosalie’s pizza is a great spot. We ended up here after drinking at the Atlantic Brewing Midtown, so naturally we were hungry. We got a standard large pie, you can create your own pizza with your own toppings, and the price is very cheap as well.

This is a nice authentic pizza bar, with a working jukebox as well! The place is lively, fun and you can even watch them make the pizza right out in the open.

Final Thoughts:
Bar Harbor truly lives up to the hype when it comes to lobster. For good reason too, lobster fishers go out and catch it and then deliver it directly to the restaurants that day. The lobster is always fresh and ready to eat.
