Is Vero Beach a Fun Place to Vacation for Couples?
Vero Beach is a rather small coastal town located on the East Coast of Florida. It’s a rather uncommon place to travel to in Florida especially when you consider places like Miami Beach, Daytona Beach, Tampa, St. Petersburg, Orlando, Pensacola etc. All those places seem to be more popular than Vero Beach. Which raises the question – Is Vero Beach a fun place to vacation for couples?
In this article I am going to tell you first hand why Vero Beach should be on everyone’s Florida bucket list, along with some downsides to the place as well. However by the end of it I hope I have convinced you to book a stay at Vero Beach!
Location
The location of Vero Beach is really one of the best reasons to go and visit! Located on the beautiful East Coast of Florida, Vero Beach is a gorgeous place to get up early and watch the sunrise.

Along with that it’s about an hour and a half drive to Orlando and places such as a Disney or Universal Studios. So that is absolutely an option for a day or two if you’re wanting to visit one of these famous theme parks. Orlando is most likely the airport you would have to fly into when booking your trip as well, so it makes perfect sense to start your trip visiting one of the parks!
For a more in depth guide to Universal, I wrote about that here. I’m much more a Universal Studios guy than I am Disney, but that’s just personal preference.
Aside from proximity to Orlando it is also only about two hours away from south beach.
If you’ve done Orlando and south beach already and looking for another beautiful place in Florida to soak in the rays and relax on the beach, then Vero Beach is the perfect spot to visit.
Why Vero Beach?
Looking for a relaxing get-a-way with your partner without the noise, ruckus and crazy crowds of Daytona or Miami Beach? Vero Beach offers the perfect substitution for that.
You’re getting a beach and coastal town just as beautiful as the other, more popular beaches, without the crazy young crowds. Which is a large reason for why Vero Beach is a fun place to visit for couples.

A quiet, quaint, beautiful coastal town that still has a lively atmosphere at times when you want to do something fun.
A hidden gem of the East Coast that doesn’t often come to the top of peoples minds when they think of taking a vacation to Florida, which makes it all the better!
I went to Vero Beach for the first time a few years ago and I can truly say it was one of the most fun vacations I’ve had in Florida. The main street has loads to do, a lot of quaint local shops, restaurants, beach bars, events and water activities. So what exactly did we do that made it so fun?
Things to do in Vero Beach for Couples
There’s loads to do in Vero Beach, while there may not be as many nightclubs as Miami there is still plenty that will keep you entertained in Vero Beach:

- Walk down the Ocean Drive – The Ocean drive is the main strip in Vero Beach. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, quaint shops, boutiques and more! Just walking the strip is fun in itself. Be sure to stop at the “Lemon Tree” for breakfast as it’s one of the best brunch places in town. The strip and the atmosphere right next to the water will have something fun for everyone!
- Lounge on the beach – After all, you are on the beach! Head down to the beach for a relaxing beach day. the sand is very white and pure and the water is very pristine. Enjoy a relaxing beach day with lunch at one of the several beach bars including “Mulligan’s Beach House” or “Waldo’s Restaurant”
- Mulligans has a boat and beach vibe with lots of cool decorations and a laid back atmosphere. Signature cocktails and delicious drinks wait for you here
- Waldo’s is a walk-up bar with poolside tables. A place to lounge by the water, get drinks and enjoy the view.
- Have dinner at the Ocean Grille – One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to by far. Get spectacular ocean views all while enjoying a gourmet meal of steak, fresh fish and whatever the days catch was! Some of the freshest fish you will ever taste from this place.
- Vero Beach Art Museum – Need a break from the sun? Stop in at this lovely local art gallery. Vero Beach is very prominent in ensuring they take care of local art and artists. And even though it’s a fairly small town they take a lot of pride on it. Very beautiful museum to visit in between beach visits!
Water Sports
- Rent a Jet Ski – One of the best things I’ve ever done in my life was ride a jet ski. Someone from New York I don’t get the opportunity to do that very often, but renting a jet ski and just being able to ride freely in the open Florida water for an hour, was one of the most exhilarating and freeing experiences I’ve ever had.
- Take a boat tour – Jet skiing not your thing? Want something a little more chill and relaxing? Take a boat tour along the harbor. Enjoy yourself while cruising along on a beautiful boat in the open water. When in Florida, you got to be on the water right? Feel the salty sea water blowing through your hair and just enjoy being out on the ocean.
- Go Parasailing – Unfortunately this I can not speak about from experience as I have not done it yet but I absolutely plan on doing it once I go back. Glide above the water and feel like you’re flying in the ocean breeze! Stuart Parasailing is the closest tour agency to Vero Beach. If looking for more of an adrenaline rush, this should be a great new experience!
