One of the best places we went to eat on our trip was Steam Whistle Brewing Co. A typical brewery that offers fantastic views of the CN Tower as well as the Rodgers Stadium. Enjoy locally brewed beer and burgers as well as other pub food in a lively and fun atmosphere.

Nightlife:

  • The Entertainment District:
The Entertainment District is home to Toronto’s liveliest nightlife scene. If you’re looking for craft beer, head to Bar Hop for a wide selection of local brews. For cocktails with a stunning view, visit The Porch Toronto – a rooftop bar that offers a great atmosphere with panoramic views of the city skyline and CN Tower. Another favorite rooftop bar that we went to when we were there was at the Hyatt hotel. Of course with reservations ahead of time. The place was called “The Reading Room” and offered stunning original drinks and horderves. Not to mention the amazing city lights, skyline and scenery just by stepping outside on the roof top. The drinks are fantastic, the mood is lively with fire pits about the bar and outside area. but my favorite part was just stepping outside and looking at the beautiful city below.
  • Alternatively, if you’re in the mood for live music, check out The Livelihood on King Street. Anywhere in the Entertainment District you weill find hopping bars, clubs and more casual venues where you’re able to unwind, relax, enjoy a few drinks and have a good time just vibing with our tourists or locals and taking in your surroundings.

Day 2: Explore Distillery District & Yorkville

Morning

  • Distillery District:
Start your day with a visit to the Distillery District, one of Toronto’s most unique neighborhoods. Once a distillery complex, it has been transformed into a pedestrian-only village full of art galleries, boutiques, coffee shops, and restaurants. Take a leisurely stroll through its cobblestone streets, admire the historic Victorian architecture, and pop into shops for local artisanal products.
  • Breakfast at Balzac’s Coffee:
For breakfast, stop by Balzac’s Coffee in the Distillery District. This charming café offers beautiful original coffee blends, pastries, and light breakfast items. It’s a cozy spot to enjoy your morning brew before continuing your exploration.
  • Rooster Coffee House: Another great local spot with delicious coffee and the perfect way to start your day.
  • Hot black Coffee: If you’re more downtown Toronto near the CN Tower, then check out this spot. A quaint little coffee shop with an inviting atmosphere and beautiful decorations. You really can’t go wrong where you grab your morning cup of coffee.
  • One of my favorite things to do when visiting a new area is to try out different local coffee shops and starting my day the right way. Even if you’re not a coffee drinker, just starting out with a fresh croissant, muffin or pastry will you put you in a good mood!

Afternoon

Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO):

Head to the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), located just a short distance from the Distillery District. The AGO is one of North America’s largest museums and features an extensive collection of Canadian, Indigenous, and European art. The contemporary design of the building, especially the Galleria Italia, is worth the visit itself.

Even if you’re not much of a fan of the arts like myself, I must admit that it is beautiful in there. The building itself and the paintings are all really amazing and something very fun to do when visiting Toronto.

Toronto Sign

A Must do when visiting Toronto is going to see the famous “Toronto Sign.” Free to visitors it is the most popular spot to take a picture when visiting. Located in the heart of downtown Toronto in the city center there’s a lot of hussling and bussling about. In the winter time you can rent ice skates and skate on the pond there as well.

There are always local vendors around the area to grab a snack or drink at. Try a “Beaver tail” one of Canada’s most famous delicacy. Fried dough topped with a variety of different snacks or candies, whatever you’d like. My favorite is the peanut butter chocolate but they have tons of different varieties.

Shopping in Yorkville:

Yorkville is Toronto’s upscale neighborhood known for high-end shopping, so if you’re in the mood for some retail therapy, explore its designer boutiques and flagship stores like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Tiffany & Co.

Of course if you’re like me and don’t like the fancy name brands and want to budget shop then there are plenty of options still available for you.

Roots

For Canadian-made, casual, and comfortable clothing, Roots is a great stop. It’s not a budget brand per se, but it offers quality casual wear that will last. If you’re looking for cozy clothing like hoodies, sweatpants, or stylish leather bags, Roots offers affordable options in comparison to luxury stores in Yorkville.

Indigo

For book lovers or those looking for unique gifts, Indigo in Yorkville offers a wide range of books, stationery, home goods, and quirky gifts. While the focus is on books, you can find cute items for your home or as souvenirs at reasonable prices.

Smaller Boutique Shops & Pop-ups

Yorkville often has smaller independent boutiques and pop-up shops that cater to more affordable, local, and unique fashion. These shops frequently offer handcrafted jewelry, locally made clothing, and accessories that are budget-friendly. Take a stroll through the neighborhood and you might find something unexpected and special.

While Yorkville may be home to some high-end stores, there are still plenty of options for those looking to shop without splurging. Exploring a mix of chain stores, local boutiques, and vintage spots will give you a great variety of choices at different price points!

Evening

Ripley’s Aquarium:

One of the best aquariums I’ve been to in my life is definitely the Toronto Ripley Aquarium. A very modern state of the art place that is filled with life and wonder. The perfect place to go to with kids or even if you’re just looking for something else to do and want to see some cool fish! We came here and it was a lot of fun. Many different fun exhibits, loads of cool fish and tanks as well as a bar that is overlooking an open top pool!

One of the coolest things about this aquarium is the moving walkway. You are going through a tunnel standing on a conveyor belt with fish, sharks, turtles, sting rays swimming all around you. No need to move or fight the crowds as everyone is in a line as you’re looking all around at the beautiful array of fish. Definitely the coolest thing about this aquarium. Definitely recommend checking it out.

CN Tower

Right next door to the aquarium is the CN Tower and everyone knows the iconic CN Tower. If you have time, head in and buy a ticket and go up it to see a beautiful 360 view of downtown Toronto as well as Lake Ontario. A true iconic experience that everyone should do at least once when visiting Toronto.

The Rec Room

After the aquarium stop over at “The Rec Room” for some dinner. Pub style food, local craft beers, arcade games, pool tables and often times live music as well.
