The 7 Most Important Items to Bring to Universal Studios Orlando

As we all know, Universal Studios is one of the best places to visit for incredible immersive experiences. Especially if you’re a Harry Potter fan, Jurassic World or just a fan of awesome rides, shows and fun. However, to ensure that your trip goes well, I’ve curated a list of the 7 most important items to bring to Universal Studios. Don’t go to the park without them!

Most important items to bring to Universal Studios Orlando

1. Sunscreen

This one may seem obvious but you wouldn’t believe how often it’s forgotten. You’re in Florida, it’s going to be hot and sunny. If you don’t want your trip to suck then make sure you apply sunscreen throughout the day to not get burnt being out in the strong Florida sun.

2. Change of shirts

This is a big one for me especially since I’m a big sweater. If you’re a sweater like me, you’re going to want to bring another shirt otherwise you’re going to feel gross all day long. This is also a great idea for the water rides, having another change of shirts you can go on the water rides without fear having your shirt drenched for the rest of the day.

3. Reusable Water Bottle

You should always have a reusable water bottle with you here for a couple reasons:

  • Here’s an obvious one. It’s hot. You’ll need water.
  • Universal is expensive as it is, you don’t need to go spending any extra money or time buying water throughout the day.
  • There are water fountains all throughout the park, you can easily refill your water bottle at the stations and keep on with your day.

4. Small backpack or sling back

I’m sure most people would bring a bag anyways, but it’s always a good idea to be bring a bag with you when in the park to carry the essentials we’re talking about in this article. And do not worry about taking it on rides. There are lockers that you can put your bag in next to the ride for safe keeping. Most of the lockers are free to use however some of them do cost money.

5. Portable Phone Charger

If you plan on being at the park for 10+ hours then this is a must. It’s always good to have a portable phone charger on you as you will be wanting to take a lot of pictures and videos of the decor all around you. Also to keep in touch with your party if you were to split up. A dead phone is never good. Bring a charger.

6. Snacks

While there are plenty of food options inside the park, having a small stash of snacks on hand can save you time and money. Granola bars, nuts, sandwiches or trail mix are great, easy-to-carry options to keep your energy up while walking around the park.

7. Dramamine / Aspirin

When thinking of items to bring to Universal, Dramamine should be at the top of your list. Even if you think you’re tough as nails and don’t get motion sickness. Bring or buy Dramamine before hand. I promise you, it’s good to have.

A lot of the rides at Universal are motion sensitive where you’re looking at a screen while moving around. Harry potter in Hogwarts, Simpsons, Spider-Man, Jimmy Fallon ride, Despicable Me, and Fast & Furious are all motion-based rides. When I was younger I could do it no problem, now that I’m older, having Dramamine is truly a life saver

Bonus Tip: Patience

When going to Universal Studios, you need to be aware that this is a theme park that people from all over the world come to every single day. That means, crowds, long lines, noisy people etc. You can’t go into Universal expecting to get on every ride within 15 minutes, you may have to make some cuts to the plan and organize your time better.

Most rides you will wait at least 45 minutes and maybe longer. If you’re interested in potentially purchasing the Universal Express Pass, check out my article on that here to make a more informed decision.

However by exercising patience and appreciating the hard work and small details in the themes, decor, atmosphere and the park around you, it is impossible to not have a good time here. Go in with an open mind, these seven items listed, and have a great time at the park!
